FLOAT understands that many balloon professionals have families that are heavily involved in the business, so we encourage working moms and dads to bring the kids if they can. At one time, FLOAT even offered day care services for parents who wanted to take classes all day and not worry about the little ones. “Yes, We Can-Can!” FLOAT is absolutely about festivities and friends, so what better way to show off your new friendships than with silly photos? After all, FLOAT is all about FUN! Boring Speech Bingo Yep, FLOAT was all about fun and games in 2010. So to liven up the regular Opening Night speeches, we decided to incorporate a friendly round of Bingo into the mix. The winner got to play FLOAT's own version of "Deal or No Deal" later that evening. Our Friend, Ricardo One of FLOAT's most popular instructors in 2010 was Ricardo Rodrigues, CBA. His fabric and balloon master class was one of the hottest tickets at the convention. Less than six months after FLOAT ended, Ricardo died tragically at the age of 31 from complications from pneumonia in his native country of Brazil. Pop Goes the Weasel! With the overall theme of "Fun and Games" for the convention, what better way to guide people at FLOAT than with Jack-in-the-Box sign holders at each classroom? Here Rose and Tristen Burkholder pose with their new friend. Hands-On Help There are all kinds of ways to learn at FLOAT, and one of them is by doing. Here, the official FLOATila, FLOAT's team of dedicated volunteers, helps build decor for the Opening Night event. Cuttin’ it Up in Costume! The Opening Night Costume Party is always a good time. Everyone gets together to reconnect, make new friends and be as silly as they like in their own costumes, posing for memorable photos like this one! Fit for FLOAT One of the great things about FLOAT is how different attendees offer their own special skills to help everyone's overall experience. Here, FLOAT delegate and licensed Zumba instructor Leah Scott, CBA, leads a class during the lunch break. International Flavor at FLOAT 2010 was a banner year for FLOAT, with attendees traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio, from over ten different countries. One of the most noticeable represented? You guessed it….our friends from Brazil! But Which One is the Prince?!? Tammy Corzine, CBA, led the pack in 2010 with her adorable Large Sculpture Competition entry. The frogs took top honors, both by the judges and by the popular vote.
